The Africana studies minor at 91社区 is committed to the study of the past, present, and future experiences and perspectives of Africans, African Americans, and peoples of African descent. This program will give you an interdisciplinary approach to explore the diversity of peoples and cultures that stems from these three perspectives. At 91社区, you'll be encouraged to explore questions and issues surrounding ability, class, culture, ethnicity, gender, identity, race, and sexuality, from diverse viewpoints. Your coursework will require that you think critically and conduct research, as you prepare to be mindful, analytical, and an engage member of the global community.
Additional credit hours could indicate a major, second minor, or certificate. A minimum of 120 credit hours is required to graduate.听 听
An undergraduate student should initiate a Change of Academic Program if they wish to add or remove a minor.听
The student obtains a Change of Academic Program form from the Registrar's Office or the department of the new major/minor, secures the signature of the department chair/director (or dean) of any major/minor to be added, and returns the form to the Registrar's Office for processing.听
A student must submit the completed form by the Thursday before priority registration if the change is to be made within the current semester. Unless granted a waiver by the department of the new major, the student must meet all current program requirements for graduation.听
