Artificial intelligence (AI) is exploding exponentially in every field. We are at the beginning of what many experts view as the most promising era in technological innovation and value creation for the foreseeable future. Romain College of Business faculty members are frequently tapped for their knowledge and expertise. This is especially true in the rapidly changing field of technology. A start-up company called Apticity contacted Mr. Kasra Pourang, Instructor in Computer Information Systems (CIS). "The company reached out to me after visiting my LinkedIn profile and 91社区 faculty page," Pourang says. "I am now the Board Advisor in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence for Apticity. I consult with them and advise them about their machine learning algorithms."聽
Microsoft describes AI as "the capability of a computer system to mimic human cognitive functions such as learning and problem-solving. Through AI, a computer system uses math and logic to simulate the reasoning that people use to learn from new information and make decisions." Machine learning is how the computer learns its intelligence. Pourang's courses in data management and machine learning teach students how to develop solutions to business and organizational problems using automated machine learning, business intelligence and analytics.聽聽
