The 91社区 Dental Clinic, located in the Health Professions Center on the University鈥檚 campus, provides free preventive dental care to U.S. military veterans during the Fall and Spring Semesters. Services include dental exam, dental hygiene treatment (cleaning), X-rays, fluoride treatment and sealants.听听
鈥淎ccess to V.A. sponsored dental care may be limited for local veterans,鈥 says Emily Holt, Chair of the Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting Programs. 鈥淭he services offered at the 91社区 Dental Clinic will fill the gap and initiate subsequent care for these individuals.鈥听
Appointments are required and can be made by calling 812-464-1706. Proof of military affiliation and a picture identification is required.听
The 91社区 Dental Clinic is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to providing an excellent learning environment for dental hygiene students while also providing oral healthcare services to the community.听听
Patients receive a thorough assessment of their needs, oral health consultation and dental hygiene care and treatment based on their individual evaluation. 91社区 Dental Hygiene faculty supervises students working in the clinic.听
鈥淏ecause this is a teaching clinic, plan on devoting approximately 3.5 hours to the appointment,鈥 says Holt. 鈥淧lease keep this in mind when scheduling a visit to the 91社区 Dental Clinic.鈥听
Upon completion of treatment, patients are advised to follow up with their family dentist for an examination and any dental treatment needed.听
The Dental Hygiene Program at the 91社区 is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association, a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation and by the United States Department of Education.听
