Public and Nonprofit Administration Minor Overview

Irrespective of your chosen field of study, the minor in public and nonprofit administration (PNPA) will help strengthen your leadership and managerial skills, help you work with budgets and supervise employees. Whether you wish to work as a hospital administrator, for a government agency, or an advocacy group, the PNPA minor will be relevant to you. Classes are small and will be taught by experienced faculty. You鈥檒l be able to take courses in leadership, organizational behavior, human resources, public policy, and budgeting. You will also have the opportunity to do an internship for a government or nonprofit agency, which will position you better on the job market. This program is particularly suitable for those wishing to work for the local, state, and federal government or in the nonprofit sector. The minor can be particularly suitable for students majoring in health professions, social work, psychology, criminal justice, economics and finance.

Additional credit hours could indicate a major, second minor, or certificate. A minimum of 120 credit hours is required to graduate.

An undergraduate student should initiate a Change of Academic Program if they wish to add or remove a minor.

The student obtains a Change of Academic Program form from the Registrar's Office or the department of the new major/minor, secures the signature of the department chair/director (or dean) of any major/minor to be added, and returns the form to the Registrar's Office for processing.

A student must submit the completed form by the Thursday before priority registration if the change is to be made within the current semester. Unless granted a waiver by the department of the new major, the student must meet all current program requirements for graduation.
