Voluntary Accident Insurance
A serious injury can cost you a lot of money 鈥� not only in medical bills but in things like income from lost work hours. Some injuries are minor, but others are debilitating and require significant medical care. If you get hurt, accident insurance pays you money that you can use to cover personal expenses, bills and out-of-pocket medical costs.
Accident coverage applies to non-work related accidents only. If you elect to purchase accident coverage, this plan pays a tax-free benefit directly to you to help offset unexpected expenses associated with an accident (off the job only) for yourself or a covered family member.
Who Gets Paid?
You get paid. When you have a covered accident or injury, your health insurance company pays your doctor or hospital, but your accident insurance company pays you.
What鈥檚 Covered?
Not all accidents are 鈥渜ualifying injuries.鈥� The kinds of accidents that are covered can vary by plan. Here are some services that an accident insurance plan covers. For a complete list of covered services, refer to your plan certificate.

The Wellness Benefit
Enrollees of the Accident, Hospital and Critical Illness plans may receive a wellness benefit of $50 per enrolled person per plan! Each member can claim one of the covered screenings once per year.
For example, a member enrolled in Accident plan submits a covered screening then the member would receive $50!
Filing a Claim for Wellness Benefit
To get the $50 Wellness Benefit, register for a Sun Life Account, then log-in and click 鈥渟ubmit a claim鈥� then select 鈥渁 wellness / cancer screening benefit claim鈥� and follow the prompts!聽
