Fall Exhibitions: Barber - Baskin - Harper

The Kenneth P. McCutchan Art Center/Palmina F. and Stephen S. Pace Galleries is thrilled to present three exhibitions to start the fall semester.听

Where Angels Go features paintings and prints by Atlanta-based artist, Jamaal Barber.听 Jamaal holds a BA from East Carolina University and an MFA from Georgia State University.听 Barber presented 91社区鈥檚 College of Liberal Arts 2023 Sydney Berger Lecture and was a visiting artist in the Art & Design department last spring.听 He was a contestant on the first season of The Exhibit: Finding the Next Great Artist, a fine art competition tv series from MTV and The Smithsonian Channel.听 He also hosts the Studio Noize podcast, which focuses on cotemporary black art.听 More information about Jamaal can be found at .

Multiformity: The Art of Leonard Baskin highlights artworks by the great printmaker that have become part of 91社区鈥檚 permanent collection thanks to the generosity of emeritus professor and former dean of the College of Liberal Arts, Michael Aakhus.听 Organized and annotated by collections director Susan Sauls, the exhibition places the Leonard Baskin prints owned by 91社区 within the artist鈥檚 broad career as a printmaker, sculptor, and illustrator.

Precarious Change is a collection of recent sculpture by Brian Harper.听 Harper is an Associate Professor of Fine Art and Head of the Ceramics Area at Indiana University Southeast. He holds a BFA from Northern Arizona University and an MA and MFA from the University of Iowa.听 He is also the Founder and Executive Director of , a non-profit arts organization with over 900 members in over 50 countries worldwide and promotes professional artists, while providing a wide array of peer-reviewed artwork relevant to the critical discourse of contemporary ceramic art.听 More information about Brain can be found at 听

These exhibitions will be displayed in the galleries from August 21 through October 13. 听A reception for the show will be held on Thursday, September 28 at 4:30 pm.听 The MAC/PACE, located in the lower level of the Liberal Arts Center, is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and open on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
