Huili Yin: Contemporary Chinese Painting and Design
January 18 - March 17, 2013

The figurative paintings and stamp designs of Huili Yin, Professor of Art and Dean of the Academy of Fine Arts of Minzu University of China (MUC) will be on display at the McCutchan Art Center/Pace Galleries January 18 - March 17, 2013. There will be a free public reception for Professor Yin on Saturday, January 19, 3 - 5 p.m. at the Art Center. He will also present a demonstration/workshop of the coke ink painting technique on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 1:30 in Room 108, Art Studio Building.

Professor Yin holds a Ph.D. from the Academy of Fine Arts of Central University for Nationalities, 2005, and a B.F.A. from The Academy of Fine Arts, Tsing Hua University, 1983-1987. He is a Professor of Art at the Academy of Fine Arts of Minzu University, 1990 - present, and since 2000 has served as the Dean of the Academy of Fine Arts of Minzu University.

Professor Yin is the director of Beijing Fine Arts association, member of the Art Education Committee of the Ministry of Education of China, and member of Graphic Design Committee of China Artist Association.

As a designer, Professor Yin has earned numerous awards in stamp design. The National Post Office Stamp Printing Bureau collected his stamp work, "Gibbon" shadow engraving style stamp, in the Fine Stamp Program. He won the top stamp design award "the Expert Award" in China. This year, He designed stamp Dragon for Mozambique, Africa.

As a fine artist, Professor Yin's Mexican coke figure painting has unique style. (Mexican coke: dry ink, dry pen techniques in painting) The National Art Museum of China and the Chinese National Academy of Painting have collected his paintings. He was in the national juried shows, such as: "The Tenth National Art Exhibition" (National Art Museum of China, 2010), "The Inspiration Plateau" (National Art Museum of China, 2011), "North and south of the Tianshan Mountains" (2011, Chinese Military Museum).

He also published three books, including聽Yin Huili Figure Painting of Mexican coke, Reading notes of Animal Stamp Design, American Modern Poster Design Work.
